The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Affairs(LGBT),in conjunction with Transgendered Health Empowerment,Transgendered Education Association and other community based organizations will be organizing some events to help the transgendered community find jobs in the fall of 2007.

The purpose of these events will be to bring together representatives of government agencies, corporations and private businesses with interests in the District together with members of the District's transgendered community for the expressed purpose of finding jobs and job training opportunities for them. The first event is a "Career Day" workshop that will take place on Saturday August 18, 2007, from 1 pm to 6 pm in the 2nd Floor Community Room of the Reeves Center at 2000 14th Street, NW. Highlights will include employment readiness workshops focused on resume writing, completing the DC 2000 application, interviewing 101, and tips on dressing for success. Additionally, there will be information on how to access employment services and vocational rehab. The event will conclude with a presentation by members of the community who have been successful and a general overview of jobs that are available.

The second event will be a "Job Fair" that will take place on Saturday September 29, 2007, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the ARC located at 1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE. The job fair will feature representatives from government, the nonprofit community and corporate employers. Further details about this job fair will be available in the future.
